That’s an old draft of a specification that never got to completion, but the <audio> element was lifted from that and put in SVG Tiny 1.2: http://www.w3.org/TR/SVGTiny12/multimedia.html#AudioElement which says: This specification does not mandate support for any particular audio format. -- Cameron McCormack ≝ http://mcc.id.au/
