Is this error reproducible ? Does it occur again when you run another?  scf 
cycle (run_lapw) ?

ls -alsrt *vector? ?  (or if you are using $SCRATCH:?  ls -alsrt 
$SCRATCH/*.vector )

do you have enough disk space ( df) ?
