News Release: League of Women Voters, Winona Unit Sponsors Forum on WAPS
Levy Questions
On October 20, the local League of Women voters is sponsoring a public forum
on the Winona Area Public Schools Referendum Questions. It will be held at
the Winona City Hall, 4th and Lafayette St. from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. The
School Board has placed three questions on the ballot to the voters. The
questions request increases to local property taxes for public education
purposes in District #861. The forum will be moderated. The audience can
submit written questions to Superintendent Paul Durand and representatives
from the School Board. This event will be televised on the local cable
stations on the government access channel. The TV audience may call in
their questions. The general public is invited to attend. Election day for
this referendum is November 8, 2005. Residents of the District may vote at
their polling places in the schools.
