[Winona Online Democracy] Democracy requires that we exercise our right to vote. I thought it would be good to start finding out what elected positions will be up for election this Fall. I will list those that seem to be - from what I can tell -- but would ask others on this list to add or correct.
I think our State Senators, State Representatives and Congressman will be on the ballot. Our local Winona School District will have some Board positions on the ballot - I think three might be - Natalie Siderius -- At Large Susan Brown -- At Large Larry Laber -- 1st District It looks like three City Council seats will be up too - Tim Breza -- At Large George Borzyskowski -- 4th Ward James Kahl -- 2nd Ward County Board seats up will be - Dwayne Voegli -- 2nd District Duane Bell -- 1st District Marcia Ward -- 5th District And all five elected officials at the County will be on the ballot - County Attorney -- Chuck MacLean County Auditor -- Cherie MacLennan County Treasurer -- Sue Rivers County Recorder -- Bob Bambenek County Sheriff -- Dave Brand It can be hard to figure out what district you live in. Try this Secretary of State site - http://pollfinder.sos.state.mn.us/ (I don't think it tells you what School Board Member District you live in) or contact the jurisdiction you're interested in -- City Hall, County or School. Maps might be available to buy from the County Auditor. If I missed something, let us know. I hope we all take responsibility to make sure the word gets out about all the positions that will be on our local ballot this Fall. There may even be a primary -- we'll see.
