The xsd in the resources in the "Wix*Extension.dll"s is processed with the flattenxml.vbs script. This script compacts the xml by removing whitespace.
The script also removes the annotation elements, which contains some very very valuable information like Parent information, and documentation.
Some information about why this annotation information is really important to me:
I'm developing WixEdit, a GUI for editing WiX source files. WixEdit uses the wix.xsd to create a highly version independent editor for WiX source files. The new way of how WiX handles extensions is a really great and flexible way, and alows me to use the xsd of the extensions too. I'm trying to read the xsd information from the WiX extension assemblies so WixEdit can dynamically handle the extensions.
This feature in WixEdit really requires the information about the parent elements, and the documentation.
Should I file a bug report for this at SourceForge?
