The error text follows: Windows Installer XML v3 Prerequisites Votive, the WiX project and editor package for Visual Studio, cannot be installed because Visual Studio Standard Edition or higher is not installed. However, the WiX schema files can be integrated into Visual Studio Express Edition to enhanced editing without project support. When Visual Studio starts up, it of course says "Professional Edition" and is build 8.0.50727.762 (SP.050727-7600), .NET framework 2.0.50727 So I don't know why the installer would think it was the Express edition, but Votive won't install. I can install Votive for version 2.0 of WiX, but I'd rather use the 3.0 version since the schema has improved. I presume there must be something in my registry that indicates I DON'T have the professional version. I wish I knew what that was. I'd correct it.
