Given that this is a response to my comment I thought I'd respond... 1. In my opinion the development cycle in WiX is too long, so relying on my change to make it to a release (or even a beta release) is not an option. 2. It is not a case of relying on one fork, it could be many (this is that case for my StdBA changes) so expecting my clients to find the relevant code and somehow merge it in to one release for their project is unreasonable; so I believe I need to maintain a controlled release outside of the main WiX releases. 3. WiX is a "benevolent dictatorship" (sic) so even though my code is the best thing since sliced bread (IMHO) it might not make the cut.
So that is why I don't think Rob et al shouldn't "do all the work" :-) Neil -----Original Message----- From: Bruce Cran [mailto:br...@cran.org.uk] Sent: 26 March 2013 17:48 To: Windows Installer XML toolset developer mailing list Subject: Re: [WiX-devs] Building WiX Code On 18/02/2013 17:59, Rob Mensching wrote: > Finally, as I noted, the goal is to get contributions into the WiX > toolset to be as easy as possible. Who wants to maintain their own fork of WiX when they could push the changes upstream and let you do all the work? :) -- Bruce Cran ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Own the Future-Intel® Level Up Game Demo Contest 2013 Rise to greatness in Intel's independent game demo contest.
