Hi Palbinder

I thought this would be the case.

Thanks for your time

Not with WiX.
I've seen other installation creation suites doing something like that
but you'll need to buy licenses to use them.
Windows Installer needs every file declared within the MSI for it to be
able to install them, any package which doesn't require you to do this
yourself is simply abstracting the process from you. This makes it
easier to use for new users but much more prone to causing you problems
with regards to things like patching & upgrading.

There are methods for using heat.exe as an automated step which have
been discussed on this list and/or list contributor blogs in the past.
Same caveats as above apply.

Subject: [WiX-users] run time harvesting

Hi all,

Does anyone know if it is possible for the msi to install all files, in
a given location, without the need to have it pre-harvested with heat?

This would mean that I could add files to the folder for install without
going through the harvesting-compile-link process again.

Would appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks,

Dave
