·      Participate in online professional development course with other
social studies teachers across the country, Summer 2012

·   Participants selected for the course and final research study will
receive a $250 gift card for their participation

·   *All* participants will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card for completing
a five-minute demographic survey to see if you qualify for the course

·   Rich opportunity to enhance teaching practice with documentary film in
your classroom and develop connections with a community of fellow
professionals

·   Take an asynchronous online professional development course in which
you will view and comment on documentary film clips, participate in online
discussion forums, learn about documentary film theory and develop new
ideas about how to use film in the classroom

·   No technical expertise required; all coursework will be delivered in a
highly user-friendly format

·   Asynchronous format will allow participants flexibility to complete
course activities at their own pace and schedule

·   Course will consist of ten online sessions July – September 2012

·   Participants will be asked to create and deliver at least one
film-based lesson or mini-unit as part of the professional development
course, September 2012

·   Participants will be interviewed for study twice by researcher via
telephone

·   Must be currently teaching social studies  (6-12)

·   Names and identities of all participants will be kept strictly
confidential
