I'd be a little careful of this, it's not just to please a validator, if you
are using XHTML then an ampersand actually has a meaning in the language (an
entity in xml I believe but I'm not an XML expert). Not so important in HTML
and I don't think the validator even picks it up in 4.01 any more.
