are you sure it used a single table ?
Last time I looked at it, IIRC it was using a single database but more
than 20 tables in that db...
anyway the real problem is not the number of tables but the number of
times that they are accessed per page.
SF servers are not extremely fast and I prefer a site which looks a bit
more 'static' but is faster rather than something CMS-based which is
more 'dynamic' but slower ;)

as I said, I'd use the last one, Prosimii, but before I start the work
