Alas the error might be a red herring and/or a chance to improve some error/dependency checking. Here's what I did and what fixed it based on dnf logs. Notice I chose XFCE. So I ran dnf autoremove and missed a very important clue: /var/log/dnf.log.1:2020-08-17T12:38:57Z DEBUG ---> Package *xfce4-session.x86_64* 4.14.2-1.fc32 will be erased /var/log/dnf.log.1: xfce4-session x86_64 4.14.2-1.fc32 @updates 2.1 M So a word to the wise...double check what really gets removed with that command! Running yum -y groupinstall Xfce fixed the issue. Perhaps some error checking can be improved for this? Any why autoremove would do this?
