We had multiple problems on the server.
First, what was causing this error was that we had applied some updates to ubuntu 17.04 but not rebooted and as a result NFS mounted file systems were not writable. After a reboot this error went away but still x2go would start and immediately exit. Examining the session log, we found that it was unable to write the lock file, and the reason it was unable to write the lock file was that there were stale locks in /tmp. I solved the problem by making /tmp a tempfs in memory file system. -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Eskimo North Linux Friendly Internet Access, Shell Accounts, and Hosting. I have an older Mac Pro 1,1 running Mac OS 10.7.5 and I also get this error if I try to login to a ubuntu server with a normal username but if I login as root it works fine. I tried moving /etc/profile out of the way just to eliminate the bashism's issue, made no difference. Client version 4.1.1.0 and 4.1.0.0 both core dump on my machine with a invalid kernel address error. 4.0.0.1 does not but still gets this same error. I can login to the same Ubuntu server with regular user ID's using 4.1.1.0 under Linux just fine. The customer can login to CentOS machines with this client and same user ID. -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_- Eskimo North Linux Friendly Internet Access, Shell Accounts, and Hosting.
