Hibernate default to lasy="true" only foe hibernate verson 3.0 and on.
Currently XDoclet 1.2.x does not support Hibernate 3.x (BTW: I should) so this
is not an issue.

Description:
Hibernate defaults to lazy initialization, but xdoclet generates a
lazy="false" attribute if no xdoclet tag is explicitly specified.
I would suggest changing the default from false to true in
hibernate.properties.xdt
