Then I put a '#' in front of 'Load "dri"' in the Module section of /root/XF86Config.new, with the result that XFree86 now hangs after:

Erm, additionally: DRI/DRM is not supported on the 530. Neither does sisfb support the 530. Hence, no need to compile the DRM module either.
