you should check having suffient modelines and modes listed in your /etc/X11/XF86Config(-4) file.
other than that, /var/log/XFree86.0.log does show your more details on which specific parameter a single given modeline is failing. most often the h-sync and v-sync ranges are inapropiate. -Alex. PS: your mail system is doing something screwed - i hardly could read your appended text. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Tuesday, August 19, 2003 14:43 > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: [XFree86] plz i need help > > > hi guys the error is in this mail plz tell me how to fix this > error i need t > my vga is ati mobility and i can't > find it when i > run xf86config i even trie > i'm using slackware :) thx for the help__sorry > about the first mail i though it got attached :( > ___________________________________ > > ______________________________________________________________ > ______________ > > ______________________________________________________________ > ______________ > XFree86 Version > 4.3.0_______________________________________________________ > Release Date: 27 February > 2003______________________________________________ > X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release > 6.6______________________________ > Build Operating System: Linux 2.4.20 i686 > [ELF]_____________________________ > Build Date: 01 March > 2003___________________________________________________ > Before reporting problems, check > http://www.XFree86.Org/____________ > to make sure that you have the latest > version.______________________ > Module Loader > present_______________________________________________________ > Markers: (--) probed, (**) from > config file, (==) > default setting,__________ > (++) from command line, (!!) > notice, (II) > informational,___________ > (WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not > implemented, (??) unknown.______ > (==) Log file: > "/var/log/XFree86.0.log", Time: Tue > Aug 19 11:39:30 2003_____ > (==) Using config file: > "/etc/X11/XF86Config"_______________________________ > Hitachi > TX36D84VC1CAA_______________________________________________________ > Color, Single, > TFT__________________________________________________________ > (EE) R128(0): No valid modes > found__________________________________________ > (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable > configuration._________________ > > ______________________________________________________________ > ______________ > Fatal server > error:_________________________________________________________ > no screens > found____________________________________________________________ > > ______________________________________________________________ > ______________ > When reporting a problem related to a server > crash, please send_____________ > the full server output, not just the last > messages._________________________ > This can be found in the log file > "/var/log/XFree86.0.log"._________________ > Please report problems to > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > _______________________________________________ > XFree86 mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86 > _______________________________________________ XFree86 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86
