Hi XWindows Forum, I have a problem, and searching Google didn't help. I have a new Dell Poweredge sc440 which is on the Opensolaris HCL:
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/data/systems/details/2831.html I can install and run Opensolaris 0811 with 2GB in this system just fine, but with 4GB installed, it locks up just as X is started. This is even true of the live CD, when X starts, it locks up. I've run Memtest86 for 24 hours now without error, and I've also swapped RAM around, and the consistent factor is having 4GB RAM in the system. I'm thinking there's a shared video conflict or such. The Dell BIOS is pretty simplistic, and I can't really change much, so I think I would need some kernel options in the grub.conf, or perhaps /etc/system, but I don't know if anything there will help. Anyone have an idea what's going on/how to fix this? Since this will be a home server, I could run with a text console, but having Gnome available would be a plus.
