THE ANC UNITED SHALL NEVER BE DEFEATED!

A response to the response by the so-called defenders of democracy to
my initial open letter to them and their political handlers,
conveniently and in an absolutely opportunistic manner the response is
titled : "In defence of our right to exist", I hope to come back to
this point later on.

By: Kaizer Mohau

Your response to my open letter has come as no surprise to me and to
some of our Comrades. The response seems to be very evasive in terms
of the principled issues I raised in that letter.

Well before going into these issues, I wish to extend my humble
appreciation to whoever drafted the response – not for trying to
patronise me but for at least trying to respond to my open letter.

I would have loved it if I knew the author of your response – because
the author makes serious mistakes and contradictions based on their
short-sighted memory about the happenings in relation to the current
political challenges facing our country, our movement and our
government.

Firstly, let me agree with the author of the response that "non of us
holds the monopoly of truth or wisdom" yet the author fails dismally
to tell as to why is this the case – naturally, truth or wisdom are
relative both as concepts and in practice. What is truthful in your
view might not be truthful in my understanding – what is wisdom in
your view might be the contrary in mine.

It is very interesting how you defend Terror Lekota as not being part
of those who are responsible for the establishment of the "Friends of
democracy" website – even though I do not remember in my initial open
letter were I indicated that Terror established the site – what I did
was to clarify the relationship between Terror Lekota and his co. and
the politics which are dominant on that site.

I would like to know who you are referring to when you speak of
concerned South Africans – because the ANC as the biggest and the most
consistent leader of the motive forces of our revolution – elected in
Polokwane last year a leadership of its choice – a leadership that
many South Africans chose the ANC since 1994 to provide.

People like you have overtime been problematic in the ANC for too long
– indeed I will not budge in terms of defining your conduct as being
liberal – in fact this is mildest definition of your counter
Revolutionary tendencies.

In its history the ANC has always been attacked for not allowing
internal and organisational democracy – those accusing the ANC had a
liberal understanding of democracy that is not understood within many
liberation movements in the whole world.

For instance, some of your political handlers – behaved in a manner
that undermines the organisational democracy of our movement. They
fail to observe the principle of democratic Centralism – which I am
now convinced you do not have an understanding of. Despite your claims
that you have been a member of the ANC for a long time.

Democratic Centralism – a principle of unity.

For many years the African National Congress has practiced this
principle as a matter of ensuring unity within its ranks – and over a
period of time this principle helped the ANC to be able to grow and
defeat the enemy of our people.

Accordingly, members of the ANC are supposed to practice their
democratic right of having different view points on many issues –
issues are therefore discussed and debated internally so that we
ensure our cadres are united and have a common understanding on all
the matters being discussed.

Like in any other processes the discussion must reach a conclusion and
according to the principle of democratic centralism – the discussion
must now be subjected to the general membership of the ANC, when a
certain position is supported by the majority and adopted as the
position of the organisation – all cadres including those who differed
with the majority view are compelled to implement the democratically
adopted position – though it is allowed that they can continue the
debates – the debates should happen internally. This is to make sure
that our differences are not interfering with the implementation of
the decision and again it is to close the ranks to avoid infiltration
by the enemy.

Terror Lekota and co.

Lekota, has been a member of the movement for more than 30 years
including being the chairperson of the ANC for almost 14 years – yet
he seems not to understand this very important principle.

After being strategically defeated in Polokwane, Terror and his co.
decides to leave the organisation and convene a convention in which a
new political party that will be opposed to the ANC is to be discussed
– this is ill discipline and worse of all counter revolutionary.

Elements of this counter revolution are as follows:
1. To attack the ANC in public and insult its leadership
2. Agitating for the overthrow of a democratically elected leadership
3. Using structures of the ANC for an agenda that is diametrically
opposed to that of the ANC
4. Lying about the organisation and its leadership

It is a fact that Terror Lekota insulted Cde Jacob Zuma when he was
the chairperson of the ANC. He further insulted and attacked a
democratically taken position to support Cde JZ by the structures of
the organisation at the National General Council held in Pretoria in
2005 and this decision was endorsed by the National Executive
Committee which Terror was chairing.

The NEC in its soberness, resolved that based on the fact that we all
agree that the rights of the then Deputy President of the organisation
were being trampled upon, therefore we need to support Cde JZ.

Why Terror did not object to this endorsement at that meeting of the NEC?

Terror Lekota speaks of the current leadership of the ANC having
deviated from the Freedom Charter, yet he fails to locate this
deviation to a particular period in the contemporary history of the
ANC and the evolution of the NDR. One can contest that the Freedom
Charter was deviated from by the leadership of Terror and Thabo Mbeki.

When the ANC came up with the RDP which the then President of the ANC
Cde Nelson Mandela correctly boasted to the National Party that unlike
them the ANC has a plan – a plan that derives its context and basis
from the Freedom Charter – the Thabo Mbeki co. popularly known as the
notorious 1996 class project abandoned this Freedom Charter inclined
plan – now who has deviated from the Freedom as the guiding and ideal
document for the building of a non racial, non sexist and democratic
society?

When the Freedom Charter proclaims the right to equality before the
law for all – it equally mean no one should be presumed guilty and be
subjected to Kangaroo courts of public opinion – something we spoke of
when the then President of the Republic Thabo Mbeki released JZ from
his government responsibilities on the basis of inferences made by a
judge.

But alas! When a judge makes inferences about Thabo Mbeki then the
country gets subjected to political instability by some few angry
power mongers – masquerading as democrats.

In all honesty, you and your political handlers have no morals and
discipline – for instances, Terror, Shilowa, Mluleki, Madisha,
Ngonyama, Malome Ronie and others have nothing that is of their own –
everything they say is what the ANC has been saying and it is saying
today – which leads me into concluding this matter by saying what
drives you and them is obsession with power and your inability to be
led – thinking that you are natural leaders – in the movement we
normally say, leaders are not born, but produced by a revolution.

The ANC has always maintained and accepted our electoral system which
says, that the leading party in our government is the one that deploys
a President – now that Terror Lekota and them have benefited from this
arrangement and want to continue amassing themselves by looting our
resources they are now rejecting this system – because it is not
benefiting them.

Finally, I think it is important that we continue this debate for
purposes of seeking to create some level of political maturity,
especially on your part.

Let me before going to the conclusion of my response go back to the
issue I promised to deal with in my introduction:

You speak as if we have said you do not have the right to exist – this
is not true it is instead very opportunistic and smack of liberalism –
The ANC remains the only consistent protagonists of our democratic
constitution which guarantees the right to belong or form a political
party of your choice – such a right in our view will never be taken
away from anyone including the enemies of our revolution like you.

We shall continue to defend this right for all South Africans
irrespective of their reactionary ideas and conduct.

What is not acceptable is when those forming an organisation are
riding on the back of the ANC and lie about it. What has characterised
this so-called splinter group is nothing but hatred for the ANC and
its leadership.

It cannot be true what Lekota says and most of those using your
website – that the ANC is purging others.

For the past 14 or so years the ANC was led by a faction – led by
Thabo Mbeki, state institutions were used to silence those who do not
subscribe to his views and ideas – this is in the true sense a
systematic purging of different views. What the ANC is doing today is
to maintain discipline within its ranks – it cannot afford to allow
people to attack it in public and claim to be members of the same ANC
– any organisation that takes itself serious will never allow this.

By the way, can you argue politics and not English next time – because
in your response you used so much space and pages yet said nothing in
turn. Only big English words – like AZAPO towers.
