Guys,
I just want to confirm categorically that we will never take Zenoss
Core closed-source. We believe that open source and our active
community gives a small startup like us the power to compete against
our much larger closed-source counterparts -- IBM, HP, CA and BMC. I
hope you guys believe, as I do, that Zenoss Core is the most powerful
open-source monitoring system available today. We continue, and will
always continue, to improve and expand its functionality.
That said, we are also a commercial company, and our ability to make
money is what allows us to grow and give back to you guys. The press
release around Pro and Enterprise gives our customers different ways
to buy Zenoss. Pro, which includes support and added functionality,
provides a first step to joining the Zenoss commercial experience.
Enterprise gives companies extra support and functionality as they
grow and have more complex problems to solve.
Again, we believe in open source, and we will never change that view.
Thanks for helping us build a vibrant community and a successful
company!

It is funny the article about Zenoss enabling the mid market with a
new Professional offering when what they did was to increase the
price in the Enterprise Edition and minimum install base, and
replaced the old $100 and 100 devices minimum with the name

Zenoss Brings Enterprise-Grade Open Source IT Management to Medium-
Sized Organizations.
Wondering if they are doing this to Paid custumers (Increase the
price and give you less for what you use to get for $100), what will
happen to the Core product once it matures some more with the help
of the community.
Zenoss is resembling more and more in their ways to another well
known former Open Source company, Tenable Security (makers of
Nessus) that now is closed source and left a whole community
scrambling for new alternatives.
I hope I'm wrong. Really do.
