Greetings, I am working on a Performa 6200 for a friend that he wishes to use for his daughter to play games on. It currently has 64 meg of ram and is running 7.5.1. What would be the best system to have on it? I have the necessary system disks and upgrades to 9.2.2, so getting an upgraded system isn't a problem.
Thanks, Lee
I put 64 megs of ram in my 6220. It already had the TV card. I took out the modem and put in an ethernet card. This worked fine.
Depending on how big your Hard Drive is I would be reluctant to go past 8.0. HFS+ became available with 8.1 and as I recall when I was able to use HFS+ I did save some drive space on the 1 gig drive that came with it.
I don't know if you have the TV Card or not. As I recall upgrading the OS to 7.5.3 and 7.5.5 rendered the TV card inoperable. I think it worked again in 7.6. I worked around this by saving the Video Player and the extensions from 7.5.1.
It's a nice little computer. I heard later it was the least expandable Mac built up until that time.
