Get rid of the DOS card if installed, get another pram battery from a different source, maybe a video PDS card, about 10 or 20 bucks and allows the connection of a monitor, you can run 2 if you want, this allows you to check the stock video and be sure the problem is not in there. The machine will also runs faster off the video card. If it has enough RAM 40 or so, take it out and reseat it. Also the small reset switch on the back of the machine, try starting it, then push that in tiny switch and hold it for 15 seconds or so. It may restart or you may have to restart by the regular means.
Don't forget the pram reset, I would let it chime 3 times

I missed or blinked and did not see how much RAM you have on board. If it is 8 megs thats the built in RAM. You will need some more at least 40 to run 8.6 which is where my trusty 61 likes to hang out at.

When I bought 40 megs of RAM when this machine was new, it was $1,300.00 for 40 megs. Ya

I have mine up to 256 but would not go that high until I have done the above and you know you have a working machine
. I am betting the DOS card if it' installed.

If it gets running, Newer made some good accelerators, I have one that gets going at 300 mhz, still does a lot of work and the software is dirt cheap but still does what it did when it was the main mean machine. You just take a little time to contemplate Mine runs 15 hours a day 7 days a week, I have gone through 3 pram batteries upgraded the HD.

PCI is really the way to go, although PDS was a better technology. But PCI is what was built and if your looking to get a good performer the PCI gives you more choices. A dollar for my 6100 never...It will still be running when ants rule the world.
I am sure I missed something but will pull out more info.
Good luck Geoff
