Sorry for the delay. Yes, Java SE 6 does use all of the JRS functions. We suppress the undesirable behavior of JRSFontGetAdvancesForGlyphsAndStyle() in Retina by forbidding any Java 2D context from actually being pixel-aligned for 2D or text operations when running under Retina (and we also force the renderer off of the Sun2D loops for on-screen operations).
