Sony no comment on Bertelsmann report
TOKYO, Jan 17 (Reuters) - Sony Corp on Monday declined to comment on a
German magazine report that Bertelsmann AG
was considering purchasing Sony's Sony Music or EMI Group Plc .
"We usually do not comment on speculation," a Sony spokesman told Reuters.
at first i got the impression that it was sonymusic germany that was being
considered, but this tokyo report confirms that it is indeed the whole
organisation, thus reinforcing the speculation on why Cornelius' allies in
Japan have been silent. If this acquisition occurs, what impact would this
have on the techno community, as don't SonymusicJapan help
publish/distribute/market artists such as jeff mills (from the 21st album)
Richie Hawtin(forthcoming Jap only release?) etc.
With BMG taking over, and having a strong hand in these artists, could a
similar situation occur, where they are free to plunder?
