The only thing for sure if Sony or EMI took over Bertelsmann/BMG is that quite a lot of "roster" bands, producers, authors and others from both companies would be "made redundant" (as the Brits say). Every single other such merger has been followed by a reduction in the artist roster of both labels (in the case of record companies).
