Funny, I was just thinking about this drummachine-thing and realised that
909s and 808s
don't do it for me as much as indeed cheap drummachines such as a Tr505 or
Alesis HR16
nowadays which are lot more exotic to hear.
I just bought a Roland R5 (a sort of  R8 for people withouth money back
then) for almost nothing and I am happier with it then I possibly could be
with a dozen 909's or MC303 grooveboxes.
Its so dirty! the groove is completely deranged and sounds like an old italo
disco drummer on some wrong dope.
(Know I've heard a lot of people complaining about Rolands lack of tight
MIDI triggering on some of
their older instruments, but this simply adds realism!)
