Do you really think so? I think most of the people on this list want to find out more and are already open to those old records to an extent. I meet kids all the time who are very well informed about this music - they sought it out when they were very young and are hitting their late teens/20s now. Maybe they are the minority but they will introduce the music to the next generation. Here in Melbourne we have an underground neo-Detroit movement in full swing, almost a backlash to UK trance, with the likes of Phunk de Sonique who are turning out some cool stuff - and they're around 21. They have humble equipment but still manage to do ace things with it. I meet people - girls, even - who are into Detroit techno and yet don't know about this list. Music is a journey and you learn and go through phases. I learnt heaps from being a big Prince fan as a kid, that led me to Parliament, Sly Stone, etc. Funnily enough I had a tape of Mojo's Prince interview (mid-80s) from a buddy years before I discovered techno! I think people find the new stuff and then go back to the roots of it and the Internet is helping them get that info. All these posts are distracting me from my original intention - to review Carl Craig and Claude Young in Melbourne and respond to my dear friends on this list who have e-mailed me! I'm getting to it..... Cheers C
