The sounds that I use in my installations range from a basic sine-wave drown to hard minimal beats that move around the room from speaker to speaker. An early installation I did consisted of four speakers in a stairwell. Each speaker was placed corresponding to the four floor locations (one speaker per floor). Individual tones where assigned to each speaker making up a chord. The tones would fade in and out so sometimes there were only two tones or three or one or all four. As you ascended or descended the stairwell the sound took on many different qualities because of the acoustics. Recently I have been focusing on the surface and placement of sounds within the room and patterns they are played in, not the ambient sounds between the notes (which has become very cliche in music lately). The sounds I use in recent installations are dry (no reverb, chorus, flange, etc) and utilizing delay to move the rhythm around the room. I look forward to any responses or questions.

Hi, this is cyborg k from kalamazoo, what you are doing really interests me. For years I've talked about ideas like this with friends but we never had the means to try them. What kind of music are you producing then as part of these experiments? I'd be very curious to hear it!

My work is not in the "traditional" sense visual. When I have a show in a
gallery I do sound installations. The installation is usually concieved
after viewing the space it is intended for. My installations consist only
of speakers and the sound which is also produced after viewing the space.
My work is about the pure perception of the sound.

I did a collaborative 24 hour live p.a. last summer with documentary maker
Jody Huellmantel. I will inform the list of any future events.
I look forward to any future inquires.

Wow!
sounds like you are having fun!
My name is Dennis Donohue, and I'm originally from the D, though i live in
chicago right now.
If you wouldn't mind spilling some stories of your music, I'd like to hear
them. I, also, am a (somewhat amatuer) producer, and have a strong fine
arts background - in fact I turned down a partial scholarship to CCS and to
Kendall university.
What type of music are you into? What form of visual presentation do you
provide? Do you make your visuals or sample them from movies\shows\web?
I don't really have enough money to establish a label of my own, though i
do make and release my music on cds (because it is relatively inexpensive
as far as music promotion goes.)

Thanks for your time!!!

Regards,
Dennis

Haye!

Besides the excelent work of Abdul Haqq on Submerge, does anyone know of
any
visual artists *directly* connected to 313 Techno? Okay, there are some
who
you might think as fitting in what you'd expect from visual arts in
techno,
but I mean people who are in close relationship with the music and
imagery.

Yes,

My name is Jared Wilson and I have a b.f.a. from the Center for Creative
Studies plus been a d.j./ producer for eight years. My "artwork"
(although
I would not draw a line between "artwork" and "music") during the past few
years has concentrated on sound. I have had two one man exhibitions in
the
past year and a half. Both of which involved sound installations based
off
of rhythm. I have not had a "trad" art show in a while as I have been
concentrating mostly on my new record label. If anyone has any questions
about what I am doing I would be eager to have a more in depth dialogue.

p.s. I will have a mix on www.frequencydetroit.com by july 25 and will be
playing at Motor on Aug. 25.
