I would also include techno artists like Missy Elliott and Timbaland - both underrated in some circles (though many an electronic producer appreciates them), and The RZA - there are tracks on Wu-Tang Forever that are so close to 'techno' it's not funny and I am amazed no producer has picked up on that sound and developed it, or maybe I have missed out on it. Just 'cause they sell don't mean they aren't at the forefront.
