Hi. I've lately been getting more and more into electro, but I have little to no knowledge of electro, much of the history behind it, artists, labels, etc., beyond like old Juan Atkins, Aux 88, Drexciya...stuff like that. I was wondering if anybody had anything they wanted to share with me about electro. I've really been feeling The Advent's latest stuff, such as their Westsiders EP on Electrix. I really like the electro with the deep dirty synths over the computerish stuff with bleeps (although some of that is cool too, like the song with the "that is incorrect" sample from Speak & Spell). Sorry if I sound like a complete idiot on this subject, but well...I am, that's why I'm writing. :) Thanks for any help!
For some really nasty stuff in an Advent vain, check out Electron Industries, a UK label - look for artists like Sem aka Damon Baxter. I haven't seen this label for awhile... anyone with some ideas on it?
You've mentioned Detrechno, do you dig the vocals and the like? One of my current faves (has been for a while) is the Boogie Down 313 EP on Southern Outpost, I believe the vocals are Mac generates there.
Hard to say what to recommend, I love anything from Aux 88, UR, Drexciya through to Newcleus, Mantronix, and over to DJ Assault and Godfather.
