I know I'll get hosed for saying this, but here goes:

Yeah, that's right. And lest we not forget, the automobile industry has used
and abused the working people of Detroit for years and years, and really
fucked a lot of folks.

Coming from a family of working class folks, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for companies like Ford, GM, Edison, and Ameritech. As much as they monopolize their markets, and they try to corner their shares, they are still providing jobs. Jobs for people of all classes and creed. They may be the worst employers around, but they are still employers. No one would be able to create music if it wasn't for jobs to gain money to buy equipment, and so on and so forth.

In my view, corporate interests are looking to subsume and co-opt
so-called "subcultures" and "counter-cultures" alot these days; to exploit
them for their profit motives whilst rendering the art form into a soulless,
saccharine shell.

That's what most of you are forgetting about our music. We have already avoided most of the "profit-motivated" schemes by creating a distribution circuit that cuts out major record labels, and relies on word-of-mouth, and DJ suggestions to promote. This is a reason that we hold our music in such esteem, because it is not compromising in the wake of popular opinion. If so-and-so doesn't like my music he won't buy it.

In this regard, it seems like Ford is zeroing in on Techno
and Detroit music right now. This leaves me a little uneasy, and I think
people should heed the word of folks like Mad Mike a little more these
days. This music, to me, is about the people and should be for the
people, not some corporate agenda that involves rich white people getting
even richer.

If we just realize it and ignore it, we'd be much better off, than getting all upset everytime we think someone is trying to "steal" our soul. I think all the opinion expressed are valid and work, but I'd rather see a group of considerate people ignoring something that is beyond their control, rather than someone "thinking" that there is an issue and doin something that ruins the whole party.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening...

Cheers!
