It's true for me (for small/new companies). I had the choice between using a cracked copy of FMHeaven or paying $70 for it, and I decided to pay for it because the developer is just one individual who was extremely helpful and courteous while I was testing the demo. Although I have been guilty (like most) of using cracked copies from big companies. If I love a particular program I wind up eventually buying it.
