oh...what the heck...

I don't understand why everyone is so surprised to
see Motor behind this.

Someone mentioned that Motor brings in diverse acts
and used the example of booking such acts as Matthew
Herbert. Ummm..do you think that just because Herbert
is a bit more indie-techno he doesn't cost some
MUUULA? PLUS Where ELSE is there to play in Detroit??
There's that hole St.Andrews with the shite sound, or
the State Theater (that's as intimate as a football
game) or the Detroit Contemp (yeah-sure, that can be
afforded) Sure, acts like this might not cause major
attendance-but acts still cost MONEY and motor's claw
they've clenched into the city makes it VERY difficult
for other venues and promoters of quality personality
and good intentions (yes an oximoron, but possible) to
survive. Motor may loose money on nights like that,
but i'm sure they'll be fine.

There are just some times when you have to let the
silver shirted scary people have the batcave (err..i
mean motor). Which is most of the time. (here is where
I'll refrain from my speech of the good nights at
Motor or how it USED to be) I often refer to Motor as
the batcave because it's dark, often scary and holds
truths we're probably better off not knowing.
