Please forgive my slight snippiness there...

It's just that anymore it seems like so many
are so "protective" of their "scene" or whatever
that it's like if anyone shows any kind of interest
who doesn't know the "in's" and "out's" of the
situation you're just asking to be "excluded"

I've read a lot of interesting commentary on this
list through the time I've been a subscriber.
I thank all for the knowledge. Mind you I still
haven't listened to the many many suggestions
that are posted here. The sad part is - the general
public still doesn't realize where all this came from
and I see the DEMF as a way of communicating
that knowledge. I personally would really like to go
and maybe catch up with some of the people here
even if it is just to say hello.

I subscribe to a variety of lists and this one by far
is one I've subscribed to the longest. (other than
ceremony - the new order mail list - hehe)

I guess I just had a "gut" reaction when I read
the one post (one of the replies to Cyborg K's post):

> that's pretty easy (imo) ..last year people raved about how great it was
and so
> it attracted a large element of scenesters..now every idiot from missouri
is
> showing up
>
> In general, I thought that there was a preponderance of ravers at the last

It kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I don't think "ravers" are the biggest
problem
that the music in general faces.. It's more like corporate exploitation
categorizing
and marketing the music like it's some sort of disposable commodity.
(that is my feeling about music in general, not just 313 style techno etc..)

one other thing:

> oh Jesus...before more people get their Joe boxers bunched up in a wad
> (or Hanes her way for that matter) the subject at hand was _balance_

I am a firm believer in "balance"...... I like to believe based on what I've
read here
and some of the links that people have posted about the advisory board for
the DEMF, that they tried to move towards some sort of balance.

(k - not picking on you, please don't take it as such - besides, who am I to
do such?
that would make me no better than those with "elitist" attitudes - and
that's
something I do my best not to do/be)

Just wanting to enjoy the music and experience

Jim J.

P.S. Tristan - I've made some more new tunes too....
