Yes, but have you seen what Eminem raps about not only Moby but 'techno'? I almost posted it but I didn't wanna spark off another 313 debate.
He should know better with his connections..... http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1453610/20020425/eminem.jhtml?headlines=tre Someone at least has a sense of humour as I got no less than two copies of Moby's album in the mail this week, and, while I am known as the vice president of the Moby's playa hata assoc, it's actually..... OK. More downbeat with some soulful gospel type vocals - sampled and 'live/real', and introspective overall. His most cohesive work. And it's so far away from 'techno', that any association at this point is tenuous. Sounds more like Dido. But actually better. It's a pop album, he's a pop artist like Elton John. ---------- >From: "Tom Robbins/Magic Feet" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: "313 mailing list" <[email protected]> >Subject: [313] Fw: Moby Responds To Eminem... >Date: Sat, 27 Apr 2002 2:29 AM > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Zoƫ Miller" > To: "AAPress2002List" <:> > Sent: Friday, April 26, 2002 5:21 PM > Subject: Moby Responds To Eminem... > > > Moby has responded to Eminem's recent diss on his website - www.moby.com. > Eminem apparently raps about Moby on his forthcoming single, 'Without Me' > and dresses as him in the video. > Check out www.moby.com web site for daily updates from Moby. > > "i'm so amused... > apparently eminem disses me on his new single. > i haven't heard it yet, but i do think it's very funny that he's singled > me out as an object of his scorn. > the weird thing is that i actually do think that eminem has skills > as an mc, but it disturbs me that he glorifies homophobia and misogyny > in his songs, especially seeing as his listeners are, for the most part, > very impressionable 10 year old boys. > oh well. i'm honored to have received my first celebrity diss. well, > first > celebrity musical-diss. > i won't be dissing him back(given the fact that MY skills as an mc > are terrible, almost as bad as homer simpsons, ok, worse), but i will > say, as i said > before, that musicians need to assume a certain > aritistic responsibility when their fan base is very, very young. > a 30 year old listening to an eminem song that glorifies misogyny and > homophobia > is going to interpret the lyrics a lot differently than a 10 year old > listening to the same > song. > from my perspective any music that glorifies abuse, misogyny, > homophobia or > racism is disturbing, but especially so when its > targeted > to fan base of 10 year old boys. > but anyway, if your reading this eminem, thanks for the diss. really, > i mean it. > and no hard feelings from me. > -moby > p.s-and was anyone else amused when that 'radio don't even play my jams' > song > was on the radio 30 times a day?" > > For further information please contact Sarah Lowe ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) > Tel: 020 8964 2001 > www.mute.com > www.moby.com > > > > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
