Union Street is really good, I would say their dishes are just more
eclectic than straight up American.
Twingos I am not partial to, their food is gross every time I have gone
there. If you are looking for a really really good French restaurant
check out Cuisine- pricey but good.
Another place that I love is La Dolce Vita, an Italian restaurant up on
six mile and woodward, tucked away. Their food is always done right.
I also live right by Harmonie Garden, has to be the best Mediterranean
food ever, and super cheap too!

For what it's worth, these are the Detroit restaurants I miss the most:

Hellas - 583 Monroe - Greek (in Greektown)
313-961-5544
Some of the restaurants in greektown have gone corporate since the
casino
opened. This place is an exception.

Los Galanes - 3362 Bagley - Mexican (in Mexicantown)
313-554-4444
Absolute best mexican restaurant in the city, IMHO.

Twingo's - 4710 Cass - French (near Wayne St. U)
313-832-3832
Amazing french onion soup and pasta dishes.

Union Street - 4145 Woodward - American/Cajun (Near CPop)
313-831-3965
Nice selection of beer :)

Lafayette Coney Island - 118 W. Lafayette Blvd.
313-964-8198
The original!

Cheers,
John
