Funny how things turn out. there was a time when a dj relied soley on their
abilites on the dex to get gigs.
You'd play all the parties you could to try to build up your rep- slowly,
from the bottom up. it's the equivalentof a band spendings years gigin
around hundreds of seedy venues playing to small crowds befor eventually
being spotted. No-one is more acutely aware of this than Mike Clark. He has
a deal with Plante-e, one of the most exciting records labels in dance
music today, but some hoe you figure he realy does'nt want to be a
producer. he wants to DJ, just as he has been doing for the beest part of
his twenty years, on and off. but to Dj you must make records. And he knows
it. " I see that as where my career is heading now, "he explains, in that
distintive Detroiter's drawl,"because you don't get any gigs is you don't
do the records. it was'nt like that befor."
