I agree with Mr Cox. In fact, I'd rather hear someone play one track after the other if they were top tunes vs. someone who is a mixing genius but chooses mediocre tracks. Respect to those who can do both.

Toys, software & tech gadgets are big fun and I'm not against trying anything, however, I dislike the super-slick sound that often emerges when using software to put together mixes/comps. Plus, it looks & feels more impressive to me if a person does it with his/her hands (i.e., using a mostly analog control method). I *like* that sometimes you can hear the vinyl being rushed or slowed a bit much, I *like* a little drag here and there, etc. I even like the basic-function CD decks because altho' they are more forgiving/exact to mix with than vinyl (imo) they still require attention from the DJ's hand.

btw @ robin - enjoyed the tunes in the switch mix  :)
