I used to buy Stanton Carts and styli, and I was buying them about one
replacement stylus every 6 months (and carts about once a year, sometimes
twice), until I purchased my first set of Ortofons 4 years ago. They lasted
over 2 years (styli were pretty worn, but never had any cartridge problems
at all), and I'm on my third set now (one set was stolen). I've NEVER had
the problem described with a tonearm, and when I was using stanton's I
remember the contacts being very small, which in turn led to alot of
cartridges buring out fast (and then you have to lick the contacts, etc.).
I've never had to do anything like that with any ortofons that I've used.
My tables are 6-7 years old, and I've been using ortofons for 4 years, with
none of the aforementioned problems...

I have always heard this from people who don't own ortofon needles.
and have had friends who have had ortofons for a few years with no problems
like this. i just can not imagine ortofon would realese a product tha would
destroy the tone arm, who knows maybe i'm wrong?

on the same note, stanton trackmasters and groovemasters are the same style
as the ortofon one peice style and the contacts are even bigger and i never
hear this rumor about them?
