:) didn't carl craig use 'the reflex' for one of his releases?
i'm always intrigued by samples, and even more about samples that don't
sound like samples.
while listening to the theo parrish interview that was posted here about a
week ago, he touched on the subject aswell, refering to pepe braddock's
'deep burnt'. he thaught the strings were great, and didn't realise untill
later that they weren't actually pepe's strings.
a couple of hours later i started listening to the dj rush mix that's up on
the main page on the deephousepage, and 13 minutes in i hear a familiar
sample ('tresspassers' if i remember correctly) never even crossed my mind
that that record was sample based, also heard the main sample for another
newworldaquarium track on a david mancuso mix on dhp.
another nice example is steely dan's 'aja', used on a moods & grooves
release (da sampla).
anyone else that can think of a record that's based on a sample, but used so
well, that you don't identify it as a sample?
