As for Eddy Grant, "Electric Avenue" was basically MTV fodder. "Living on the Frontline" -- now that's a different story. When I was visiting London in the summer of 1979 -- right after Thatcher got elected and the first Brixton police riots -- it was *everywhere* coming out of boomboxes and high street arcades. I went back to London for New Year's 2001 and found a mint copy on 12" vinyl in a used bin in a Soho basement record store (Daddy Kool I think). Nobody there knew anything about it, it's in the era between late 1970s lover's rock and early 1980s dancehall . . . The other classic Eddy Grant is "Walking on Sunshine," which has a decent house remix but is still much more awesome in the original version. Eddy Grant was an innovator in using electronics for Caribbean-stylee music back then, and it still sounds really good . . . fred
