FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TECHNO PIONEER KEVIN SAUNDERSON NOW OFFICIAL CO-PRODUCER IN
MOVEMENT, DETROIT'S ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL '04"

DETROIT, MI: May 11, 2004. At a press conference held today, Kevin
Saunderson announced that he is now officially involved in this year's
Movement, Detroit's Electronic Music Festival '04, to be held Memorial Day
weekend at Hart Plaza. Saunderson's past participation and endorsement in
the festival's success has been essential. He is a respected leader in
the industry, and has been a headlining festival performer, DJ'ing in 2000
and 2003, and performing live with his group, Inner City in 2001. As
Co-producer, along with current festival organizer Derrick May, forming
the new organization, "Movement 2004 L.L.C.," Saunderson promises to do
everything in his power to ensure the success of this year's festival.
Contracts were signed last night, and as of today, plans move forward.
Additionally, the official line-up was announced and can be found at
www.movementfestival.com.

The following is an official statement from Saunderson:

"I have only gotten involved with the production of this year's festival
as of TODAY. Prior to today, I have not had an any role, official or
otherwise. I have decided to join the team to help ensure the festival
happens, with the greater good of the city, the event, and the music in
mind. Why I have not been involved up to this point doesn't matter. What
does matter is, I am here now, and I am here to help. All those involved
with my camp are here to help. We all have the same goal, the same
objective - to move forward, work as a TEAM, and see that the festival is
the best it can be.
Detroit, historically, has been looked upon as leaders and innovators in
the music industry. Not only in Techno and dance music, but jazz, blues,
the Motown sound, hip hop...All of which has put Detroit in the spotlight,
as well as under scrutiny, globally. People expect excellence from this
city and will accept nothing less. I will do everything I can to uphold
that image, and if my stepping in can help do that, then that is what I
will do. If my name and reputation can help make the process run smoother,
then I will put it on the line for it. The festival, the music, and
Detroit mean that much to me. My goal, as always, is to preserve the
integrity of the history of the music, and give it a platform upon which
to grow.
The festival was, and is, a commemorated event. It not only honors the
creators of the music, but highlights current talent in the industry, as
well as introduces and educates up and coming artists, not only locally,
but world-wide. The fact that Movement is free speaks volumes. The
festival is a vehicle to educate and inspire our youth, to show them that
this music came from regular people just like them, and they too can make
a difference. It is an opportunity for the community as a whole to come
together to produce something positive for the city."
