I disagree there's no audience for it anymore. Your description above
seems
like a description of most larger underground clubs in America, but that
certainly isn't the case here. It seems to be popping up everywhere from
what I can tell. Lots of people are playing it again, from clicky DJs to
house and techno dudes, to Warp DJs. It's also being produced in mass
quantities. The new Abe Duque stuff is about as pure as the original
stuff,
as is the new Loosefingers release. There's also a recent album sampler
on
Music for Freaks called 'Bad Acid', featuring tracks by Joshua and
Freaks,
plus some new faces. I can only assume other familiar names will pop up
on
the album. This is more of an update on acid, but the inspiration is
undeniable (just look at the name). Then there's some of Luke Vibert's
recent stuff as well. Anyway, that's just a few that I can think of, but
there is tons of new acid stuff to be found. Some people predicted it
coming
post-electroclash, as the next revival, but thanfully it hasn't become
as
big or polluted, and most of those that are trying to do new things with
it
are being fairly imaginative with it.
