Indeed, but if we're including them as psychedelic then it's only fair that Mandrill get a mention.

Also, peeps looking for psychedelic soul should keep an eye out for other Charles Stepney productions as well as his Rotary Connection stuff, in particular his later productions for Cadet e.g. the Phil Upchurch solo albums, are deep.

Earth Wind and Fire's first album (eponymously titled) is also excellent - v. much on an early Funkadelic tip and also highly sampled - 'Bad Tune' is a killer - with a wicked Kalimba intro!

Another psychedelic tip (though more on a jazz angle) is Tom Scott's sixties stuff on Impulse, clearly influenced by West Coast Psyche rock of the time. Check 'The Honeysuckle Breeze' and 'Rural Still Life'. Pete Rock used 'Today' off the former to devastating effect on 'T.R.O.Y.'......and he's from Detroit.......or something
