>Dear Stewart,

(heyyy Stewart is my last name Baute!)

> maarten your taste is crap! ;P
>funny you say that. First, a lot of the stuff you like, I like too and vice

well, it wasn't "haha" funny, but yes, i was kidding!

>versa. I just don't buy as much records as you do. Second, one of my

yooo i buy very few records. i bought maybe a dozen records retail last
year..maybe a dozen more from thrift stores record fairs etc...but i get some
freebies...

>a lot of people would agree I have a great taste. I might be a bit too
critical at times, that's definitely the case.

(thanks for the compliments!)
still, i think you are stuck idealizing all this old house and disco stuff at
the expense of good new stuff, like practically everybody else i know. i never
got ahold of the yoav b on delsin or wabi sabi, but i know these records are
fresh, raw, very good house, and i'm sure i could come up with 8 more records
that arent edits or reissues...give new stuff a chance, it wont sound all dusty
and classic for awhile but some of it will eventually..everybody wants
instantly dusty classics now. i do too, but...

>I also think a lot of people would agree there is relatively less
interesting music coming out than 5 years ago (in house and techno anyway).
I hear a lot of people complain about this. This was the point I was trying
to make (and being tired as I am, I relied a bit too much on bold statements
and one-liners, I apologize).

well, that's probably an accurate view of the state of the "scene" or whatever,
but that doesnt mean there isn't more good music out there than you give credit
to....in fact there's so much less coming out, the ratio of quality music to
throwaway crap has probably increased...

>Still, I think 2004 was not a good year for house and technno music.

not as good as last year, i'd agree...still, not too hard to come up with 10
records...even if they're just the best of the crap! :P
