Hi Ken,
I'll probably get flamed for this so before i say any more i do like
Melbourne (for coffee). No really i do like it.
This is probably just a Melbourne thing, even at the height of Detroit
style parties in Sydney high-heal clad females where the exception not
the rule. Most of the females i know would dress down for such an event
although the housier type events tend to have more of a mix of both. But
again they are all their to dance all night.
Melbourne people wear more clothes period. Weather? Maybe more to hide?
i'm not sure ;). People there tend to put in more effort.
Also I think Adelaide is possibly closer to Melbourne trends then
Sydney. I remember going to club nights with local streetware fashion
parades as as part of the show but this is going way back in time.
Can't imagine that happening in Sydney in a place i'd want to be seen in.
Anyway i'm rambling, i think my point is that there is no fixed rules
for australia and things change from state to state and from club to
club, music can be a factor also but i think people dress for the club
they are going to. I hate to say it but i think compared to England
Australian's tend to be quite conservative with fashion not adopting
every radical trend as fast as it happens in London. Trendy woolly
overcoats have little practical use in Sydney.
It's a topic that i find interesting because i often wonder if fashion
styles and local fashion trends dictate the type of music that will be
accepted in clubs rather then clubs attracting certain people or people
dressing for certain clubs.

What do other Australians think?

Techno is club-focussed now here. Good techno is in clubs. Rave is dead
here. Or the still extant raves are for hard dance, hard NRG, trance,
etc.
Even then people dress up, just in bunny suits, etc. Two Tribes is a
carnival of bad rave wear.
All the females I know get dressed up to go out, it's not something you
even
question. I probably wouldn't have raised that topic had I not done an
allnighter for work and lost my self-editing faculties.
I like dressing up, I just hate the idea it's "expected" which it is -
culturally.
No, I think boho boots can have heels, ha ha! I am not talking
platforms,
but yeah! They are a good tool for trainspotters as you're elevated and
can
see over all those tall dudes, ha ha. It's not too hot here. Melbourne
is a
quite temperate now.
I was of the understanding that boho boots are flat. At least, every
model and picture I"ve seen are flat...
and isn't it a bit hot to be wearing boots to a club?
I don't recall a single techno party I've been to where the girls get
dressed up. if it had to be about 'fashion' it's always been more
about
sneakers and street gear...

I heard that it didn't get the same vibe in Syd and Q'land - but
Melbourne
people being rampant playa haters I tend not to pay heed unless
someone
from
those cities says as much.
Yeah thought it was Final Scratch but I haven't been able to look at
it
that
close before and I wasn't sure what Traktor could mean. ;)
My only regret was wearing boots I couldn't dance in - I had some
misguided
notion of looking cute in Sienna Miller boho boots and I will never be
seduced by Vogue's fashion pages again. Boo! Death to high heels!
