Broadcast on the eve of the Kraftwerk tour stop in Chicago, Matt hosts
a full career retrospective of their work. Agruably the most
forward-thinking and influential pioneers in synthesized electro-pop
music, the four composers working from Dusseldorf, Germany have had
their music famously described as "so stiff it's funky." Kraftwerk
created sonic blueprints and themes that paved the way for early
Hip-Hop, House and Techno to follow in their robotic footsteps. After
an intro of Detroit-y downtempo, hear Kraftwerk's decades of influence
still every bit as relevant to modern electronic music today, fusing
mechanized beats with emotional melodies and beautifully simple pop
arrangements.
