im not sure if it STOPPED using electronic sounds, but i think anyone
can tell the difference between say nu groove type stuff and the stuff
released most recently by louie vega. kerri chandler has been getting
very "techno" as well recently, check out "bay-a-thym" and "so let the
wind come". maybe its less about the sounds, but about the "song" type
structure that alot of the NYC house uses. though theres lots of the
latin sounding stuff that is tracky in a way but is mostly "live"
instrument sounds. either which way, i really love the older NYC sound
when they did alot more synthy stuff, and it seems like something of a
return to that sound is afoot.

and how can i be biased against live sounds when probably 50% of the
records i play have a large amount of live instruments on them? its
just a preference i have against the recent NY sounds i guess. those
KCs and the "sandcastles" tune by sydenham are KILLER cuts though, you
really cant go wrong with them no matter what kind of stuff you like.
