Maybe I'm missing something experience wise but Omar S is some of the best produced stuff I've heard in ages.
That's a matter for debate :). Some of his stuff is, by normal standards at least, plain awful.
The magic in his tracks is the way his sounds are produced, cos most of his tracks are quiet straightforward in terms of mixing and song structure. i could hear his kick drums all day (and night). In most of the tracks of his that ive heard the beats just sound so alive and raw. They hit a really sweet spot in my ear drums. Example : Congaless in Just ask the Lonely
Sometime he gets it right but sometimes that hollow kick just gets lost in the mix. I love the rawness too though, which is why I keep picking his stuff up.
