i dont even think he was using "fetishized" gear unless there's a
sudden lusting for what sounds to me like an r8 and judging from his
live show one of those ensoniq sq workstations. regardless of what it
was that he used, it make his melodies sound grittier and more rugged,
made with the same gear that trance producers use, it sounds like.....
trance. and it doesnt hit you in the same spot. maybe he lost it? but
he made tracks post-deeparture in time and pre-the music man 12" that
werent crap and didnt sound like fluffy nonsense. and im saying this
with deeparture in time one of my all time favorite albums. i had high
expectations for where he would go next and now 7 years down the line
im just not feeling what im hearing.
