Im one of Shake's biggest fans but even I could not enjoy myself at his
set. 1st of all i heard the same exact set played by him a year ago at an
after party at olslo's. no kidding it was the same for sure. the only
difffrence was instead of juggiling two copies of the pace he juggled
phillips track last time.
and i don't mind the trainwrecks if the songs are good. they were good the
year before. boring this year.
And if you are asked to play a major festival please familarize yourself
with the mixer you will be playing with. shake looked confused and should
not have tried playing with the onboard effects if he didn't know how.
Let the hating begin!
First of all, Shake is on this mailing list and posted fairly recently,
if I'm not mistaken. Please be respectful to this man who has given
us all so much to be happy for.
Second, as Melody noted, several DJs had problems with that same
mixer in the Real Detroit tent.
I talked to Shake after the Claude Young after-party, since I cannot
pass up a chance to talk to that man :D
I started to say how much I liked his set at the festival, because I
love how he mixes it up track selection-wise. Nobody sounds like him
'cos nobody thinks like him.
He quickly corrected me and said that it wasn't that good, and of
course the mixer issue came up. If I recall, he said good track
selection wasn't good enough. To me, it's always interesting to see
the difference in perspective from the performer to the punter - I
heard several Well-Known DJs that I thought went over well grousing
about their sets, whether it be the wind (on the Pyramid Stage) or
the mixer or ... you name it. Glad I'm not a DJ!

bargain-bin record store in LA the day he played it)
